I tend never to friend first, in case like some sort of terrible internet albatross I end up BURDENING PEOPLE WHO ARE TOO POLITE TO TELL ME TO GO AWAY. This never applies to anyone else; I never feel that other people are burdening me like albatrosses. I like people. Friend and defriend at your whim, it's all good.
